The T in the Team formula stands for “Theme”. If you have read my free e-book “25 Greatest Party themes of all time” then I’m sure you are well versed in how a theme can truly make or break a great party.
If you haven’t picked up the e-book make sure you download it here.
Themes get people excited about going to parties. While some individuals are popular enough to be their own theme, like a kid named Jerry at my school who was notorious for throwing parties that always ended up with everyone ultimately getting naked and streaking across the football field, most parties can automatically be made popular by promoting an exciting theme. Now I am not suggesting that you go streaking but I do suggest that you take whatever theme you have chosen and use it to your advantage.
When throwing a party, think of a theme as an important first step. You’ve got to have a great theme…it gives party goers something to look forward to when they are going out. I will give you an example. Which statement excites you the more:
“Let’s go out to Joe’s party tonight” or “Joe is throwing a Catholic Schoolgirl party tonight, let’s go.”
If you’re like me, the second one sounds more exciting. And here’s why. Party goers like to know what they are getting into before they go out. Believe it or not, when you decide to throw a party, you are competing with sleep, studying time, movies that are out, and most important other parties! There is an, oh, 100% chance that individuals are considering other options when they are thinking about attending your party.
I’m biased to the 90’s party theme (of course) but any good theme will work. Make sure to use my free ebook as a starting point.
Once you have decided, make sure to make it your parties’ focal point and excitedly tell everyone about it. If you have decided on a great theme, why wouldn’t you want everyone to know?
When you have a theme, especially a popular one, it will help the decision to come to your party that much easier. And this is all we want when choosing a theme. It is the all-important first step to help people lean towards or decide to go to your party.
In the next post, I will show you how the E in our party formula will almost certainly guarantee that people will show up to your party and when they do will never want to leave. Talk to you soon!

I’m would go to your Chix Love Chix Party…just let me know where I can sign up. As long as DJ Righteous is on the 1s and 2s I’m down.
Maybe he can do it Remotely
You can add as many as you want…as long as they are good.
Timely article…I was getting ready to throw a party when I saw this on facebook.
I’m would go to your Chix Love Chix Party…just let me know where I can sign up. As long as DJ Righteous is on the 1s and 2s I’m down.

If I’m available…I will definitely DJ the party. Just let me know the date
I’m from the U.K and we throw house parties all the time. I am going to start using some of these themes as well as the other stuff you teach.
Great blog.
Old Nickelodeon was the great! They need to put Salute Your Shorts on Netflix!!!!!
Yo I’m game. Let’s start a petition on facebook and see if we can get Neflix to put some old school music back on that. I’m thinking that they should add “All That”, “Figure it Out”, and “Are You Afraid Of The Dark” as well.
What ever happened to the days where you just called your friends on the phone and told them that your parents were out of town?
I miss those days…along with Nickelodeon.
I’m thinking about throwing a “Chix Loving Chix” party…what do you think about that?
I’m down…make sure you take pictures
I agree with what someone said earlier, I thought that there were going to be more themes in the video…but I see that you made up for it by actually releasing the ebook so I’m not complaining…
other than the complaining I just did at the start of the comment.
ROFL…I’m glad you caught that because I was about to say something.
I’m so using these themes…good stuff. Keep it coming.
I don’t think that you need to have a theme every time but as Righteous says it helps. And even if you don’t come up with an official theme, “house party” is a theme within itself…
Isn’t that right Righteous?
Yeah…every party has a theme even if it’s, “let’s sit around and do nothing”. You don’t have to play up the theme but if you truly want your friends to show up and rock out to it…standing behind your theme is best.
But what if you don’t want your party to have a theme. Does it have to have a theme every time for the party to be a success?
Just checked out the ebook..there are some good themes in there. Do you have any more?
I keep compiling them as I go…I think that I am going to release another ebook soon or make a second edition when the list gets big enough.
I just read your e-book, where can we go to suggest other themes? Can we do that here?
You can add as many as you want…as long as they are good.
Hell Yeah! You Rock.
Clicked on this when I saw it on Youtube…I’m glad I came.
You should include a link to the next post at the bottom so that people can just go to it.
That’s so bogus…I thought that there were going to be more themes. Good youtube video though.
I will start using this information immediately…I can’t wait to see part two.
What’s wrong with going streaking? A house party isn’t a house party without streaking!
Some quality information there…nice blog post too.
